The Palace Guards is a group created in 1817 to provide around the clock security for the Palace, royal residences, the Sovereign Prince and his family. The motto on the flag is Honor, Loyalty and Devotion to Duty. The group is composed of 3 Officers, 15 Sergeant-majors and 80 Privates, all French miltaries that are well trained. In January of 1904, Prince Albert I renamed them "Compagnie Des Carabinier Du Prince". These men always dress uniform, black in the winter and white in the summer, and has not changed in over 100 years. The Palace Guards provide assistance to the Monaco Red Cross, assist the handicapped, help children from the Saint Devote (a daycare center), and help with relief and evacuation plans in national emergencies. Among the Guard are scuba divers that perform underwater security, monitoring water pollution levels and overseeing events in Monaco waters.The Palace Guards have people that are gunsmiths, accountants, electricians, IT specialists, mechanics, carpenters, painters, plumbers, radio specialists, cabinet makers, and designers, which makes them not need outside assistance. The Guards are a highly trained group providing service to the Principality. The majority of people in Monaco wear expensive, or designer clothes. People of Monaco are stylish and every day requires dressing nice.
